Convivium Firenze

HISTORY

Convivium Firenze, one of the leading companies in the Florentine catering sector, was founded in 1980 as a joint venture between four young people from the Gourmet foods and Reception sector.

Convivium Firenze’s coat of arms, the “Red Lion Rampant” holding an olive branch in its claws, a minor art symbol of the Oliandoli and Pizzicagnoli of 14th century Florence, stands for the original philosophy on which the company was founded and developed. That philosophy can be summarised as the constant commitment to the rediscovery and preservation of the values of the ancient traditions of Florentine and Tuscan cuisine. This has been made possible by the presence and the unstinting commitment of each Partner in the various sectors, as well as the exchanging of personal experience that makes possible the attainment of an end result that is both comprehensive and an unqualified success.

Over a number of years the Company has expanded and the business has grown.

In 1997 in a carefully restored 14th century farmhouse, it opened the “Canto al Paradiso” restaurant. A place where the activities typical of a high level gourmet food shop boasting a top quality wine department complement those of a restaurant with special menus.

Not far from the restaurant, it created a show room where banquets are developed and tailored to the specific requirements of the client, and a culinary workshop in which they could be prepared.

Convivium opened its second restaurant, Olio & Convivium, in the old town centre.

Olio & Convivium was set up in the historic Palazzo Capponi, in the heart of the old Oltrarno district, as an innovative and sophisticated “Restaurant-workshop” dedicated to the wine and oil sector and to gastronomic research.

In 2006 the Convivium brand product line was launched. During the course of its 30 years of activity, Convivium has always selected products that have been deemed to be the best in their sector and integrated them into its new brand along with its own. A broad selection that includes honey, jams, pasta sauces, preserves in oil, biscuits and many more. A line that stands for: years of experience, wholesomeness, and quality.
